When you read about the War of the Austrian Succession you usually read about the principal theaters: Flanders and Silesia. However, the war was also fought in Bohemia, along the Rhine, and in Italy. This is an account of how the Spanish and Neapolitans fought the Austrians and the Piedmontese; how the Austrians were defeated by them at Velletri, how the Spanish then marched across Italy to northwest Italy and then to Spain; how the French became involved in western Italy; how the Austrians captured Genoa and the Genoese revolted against them. This is a bit of military history that is generally ignored but was no less significant that the fighting elsewhere.
