Olivier de Clisson was one of the most famous of the French Marshals of France who fought in the 100 Years War.  This is a history of his life from childhood to his death.   It explores his battles, his dealings with the King of France and other nobles.  He was a friend of Bertrand Guesclin.  They fought together against the English and Spanish and Clisson succeeded du Guesclin as the Marshal of France.  His story, however, is quite different.  Being a higher noble that Guesclin, and also being quite rich, he attracted the hatred of several powerful factions, including the King’s two brothers.  There was even an assassination attempt against him by a jealous noble.
