This is an interesting collection. The first book was a refutation of Thier’s History of the Consulate and Empire and how it dealt with the famous charge of the Polish Guard Light Cavalry Regiment at Somo-Sierra, Spain, in 1808. It’s author, Niegowlewaski, was involved in the charge and refutes Thier’s many errors in his account of the charge. He felt that Thiers either out of ignorance or a deliberate desire to minimize the glory of the Poles misrepresented the action.
The second work, by Pouzerewsky, looks at several works on the battle and gives a similar, but broader, reputation of Thiers.
