This is one of 14 volumes that provide a complete military history of the wars of the French Revolution. It covers not only land operations from Belgium, the invasions of Ireland, Austria, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, the Spanish frontier, Egypt, and Syria, but also naval operations throughout the world’s oceans. All major operations are discussed to some detail and most smaller operations are discussed. It provides a great deal of information on the war in the Vendee, something that is generally ignored by more modern histories. This work was originally published in 1822, but the translation provided here was based on the 1900 edited edition.
