The first account is a relatively short account of the siege by a French author and was published in 1582. The second account, however, is a much larger work translated from Spanish and is almost a day-by-day account of the battle speaking in very great detail of the defense by the Knights of St. John against the Ottoman hordes. It goes so far as to list the significant nobles who fell or were wounded during the siege. This work was originally published in 1567
