This work contains the history of the 3rd War of Religion, which ran from 22 August 1568 to 15 October 1569.  It is limited to the campaigns in the west, where Conde, Coligny, Tavannes, and Montpensier displayed their qualities as leaders and where the Catholic generals engraved on French military history the names of two resounding victories: Jarnac and Moncontour.  This is a history of the battles and sieges of the 3rd War of Religion, which produced a revolution in the art of war by the introduction of portable firearms and the perfection of artillery.
