Published originally by the Historical Section of the French General Staff in 1905, this is a compilation of reports written by French and Piedmontse officers in 1799, while memories of the battles and the campaign were very fresh. The work focuses almost entirely on the actions of the Piedmontese, providing very detailed descriptions of their deployments and actions in various battles. It discusses the battles of Montenotte, Dego, Ceva, Mondovi, and several other engagements. This is anything but an ordinary work and definitely not the same old stuff you’ve read a thousand times on the 1796 campaign.
