This is a three volume work and the volumes are sold separately. When the French Revolution chased the emigre nobles from France they gathered in Holland and on the Rhine, soon forming two armies where noble officers who were only captains or lieutenants carried muskets as simple soldiers and full colonels commanded companies as if they were only captains. One of these armies, that of the Duke of Conde fought from 1792 to 1801 when it was disbanded. It was a small force, initially having a few thousand nobles and some loyal soldiers who defected to the Allies after the wars erupted. This first of three volumes talks about the formation, organization and early operations of this army between 1792 and 1795. The level of detail is such that very small operations are described in great detail. Most interesting are the discussions surrounding the capture of the Weissenbourg Lines.
